Photos from the MW Kantha day

Popping in to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along the Maternity Worldwide sewing day last weekend. I haven't been told the final figure yet, but we reckon we raised at least £250 for the charity.
*EDITED, we raised £272!

It was a chilly, but bright day. Once the wood burner was on the garden house felt like a little cocoon, surrounding us with warmth while we got on with sewing. Here are some pics from the day:

Getting set up. The Garden House always have lovely seasonal bits around which made the table look pretty.

Nicky introducing the cakes, possibly the most important bit of the day! They included gooseberry and white chocolate sandwich cake, apricot polenta and boozy fruitcake.

The first group settled into their sewing. Although I had designs that could be copied quite a few participants brought along their own ideas or sketched from scratch. To speed things up each little panel was been sewn on the sewing machine then turned and pressed - as you can see at the front of the photo. This created an instant canvas for stitching. The thread boxes look eclectic - one of the (many) lovely things about Kantha is that you can play with lots of different thread weights and types.
